Class of 2017
Take Stock in Children scholar, Wade McDonald is from Homosassa, Florida in Citrus County. He graduated from High School in 2013 with a 4.12 GPA. He was the recipient of the Boy Scouts World Conservation Award and Bright House Volunteer Service Award. He attends the University of Central Florida and plans to graduate in the fall of 2017. He has maintained a 3.758 to 4.0 GPA, has been on the Dean’s List 4 times, and President’s Honor Roll 3. Wade also competed in the UCF IDEAS Engineering Showcase competition where he finished first. He is a LEAD Scholars Program Graduate and UCF Arboretum Garden Volunteer. Wade’s top goals for 2016-2017 are: obtaining another mechanical engineering internship/job, prepare for graduation/senior design, and start his own scholarship program with fellow Leaders 4 Life and TSIC Scholar Paisley Greer. Most recently he interned with Honeywell in Gesiar, Louisiana and completed an externship with ZIO in Winter Park, Florida. Wade has also become a member of UCF’s Eli2, an Engineering Leadership group, joined a UCF Career Advancement Mentoring Program for Young Entrepreneurs, became a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and is also a Scholars Entrepreneur Student. When it comes to future plans, Wade has many. He is enrolled into Honeywell’s Rotational Program for their Performance Materials and Technologies department. This enrollment will allow him to pursue a mechanical engineering job with them after he graduates. He is also currently an engineering assistant part-time with ZIO and is still looking to continue work on his scholarship program. Wade would also like to make sure and give back to Take Stock by becoming a mentor or even team member after graduation.
